Assistant Professor in Exercise Sciences

Brigham Young University

About Me

I am a newly minted assistant professor in the department of Exercise Sciences at BYU. I'm excited to establish my own line of research focusing on gait and exercise interventions during pregnancy and the postpartum recovery process as well as the effects pregnancy may have on injury and other musculoskeletal disorders throughout a woman's life. In the past, I got to work with Dr. Elisa Arch in the Orthotics and Prosthetics for Enhanced Mobility Lab where my research focused on how the foot used and transferred energy while walking in shoes with a carbon fiber foot orthosis. I started out my research journey working with Dr. Dustin Bruening in the Health and Human Performance Lab where we investigated gait and foot muscle changes in individuals with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. If you want to know more about theses projects you can look below, or go to the research tab.

I am always open to a good science conversation, so if you have insights, questions, or advice please feel free to contact me.

Multi-Segment Foot Energetics

What? This hasn't been done? It seemed like figuring out how to measure multi-segment foot energtics while people are shod was low hanging fruit... multiple years later, I now know better.

How was This Not a Thing Already?

Despite being one of the top schools represented at the latest conference, University of Delaware still didn't have an ASB student chapter. I decided it was time to fix that problem.

Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Do people with diabetic neuropathy but NO history of ulceration walk differently than healthy, age, and weight matched individuals? The short story: yes.

Creativity and Science

Science wouldn't exist without creativity (and amazing creative problem solving). Science communication and teaching requires just as much creativity to spark students' enthusiasm.
